DUPONT PARK SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST SCHOOL & CHURCH

The green infrastructure under development, at no expense to Dupont Park Seventh Day Adventist, is designed to capture stormwater runoff. It captures and stores stormwater runoff from parking lots and the roof before passing it through an engineered soil filter and treats 1,300,000 gallons of water annually. This project includes installing and maintaining 25 trees and a 4,200 sq ft rain garden. The selection of native trees features 21 13 diverse species like cypress, holly, and dogwood. Over the next twelve years, this initiative is expected to create a total net present value of $1,500,000 in ecosystem services, providing tangible benefits to local residents and fostering a healthier environment. Installation will be completed in 2024.

Every dollar invested to build the green infrastructure at Dupont Park returns $4.9 in benefits to the community

It has been an opportunity for the church and its community to learn about the myriad benefits that trees provide including water retention, soil stabilization, shading, and air filtration
