Green Compass is helping this +25,000 sf multi-family building take practical steps to be compliant with the District’s Building Energy Performance Standard (BEPS). We’re providing benchmarking services and proposing retrofit projects, including electrification, efficiency, and solar roof rehabilitation, to improve building performance. We collaborate with third-party data verification providers to ensure compliance with regulations. The BEPS Program, outlined in the Clean Energy DC Omnibus Act of 2018, was established to achieve a 50% reduction in the District’s greenhouse gas emissions and energy consumption by 2032. Multifamily buildings must achieve EnergyStar Score of 66 or higher, and energy performance requirements will become more stringent as buildings decrease their energy consumption over time.
